N95: hard reset and lock code

For some unknown and weird reasons I could not get and send SMS from my N95 phone, neither could I access my logs. Very annoying and I had to go through an hard reset to fix that… here is the process:

  • Backup the content with Nokia PC Suite (which get better every day)
  • *#7370# Soft reset code (restore factory setting but do not loose any applications/datas), did not do the job, still unable the sms/logs problems.
  • *#7780# Hard reset code (loose everything…) did the job (source #)
  • FYI the default lock code is “12345” (source #)
  • Restore the content with Nokia PC Suite, which I actually did not do, a new synchronisation with Outlook did the job for me (really awesome!)

Switching on the phone I got more than 20 SMS that were waiting for delivery… weird!!

Y’a quand même pas beaucoup de différences entre développer un code propriétaire et utiliser un standard dans une solution propriétaire (disons que dans le premier cas y’a au moins un minimum de R&D) . Au final c’est quand même l’utilisateur qui en souffre à l’utilisation…

Larousse vous informe…

L’annonce, relayée par l’ensemble des médias, de l’ouverture de notre encyclopédie contributive en ligne Larousse.fr, a suscité une telle curiosité et un tel attrait parmi vous que notre hébergeur ne peut momentanément répondre à l’afflux de demandes de connexions. Nous mettons tout en œuvre pour revenir à une situation normale.

Co-voiturage

Petite réflexion inspirée de ce billet. Ne possédant pas de voiture, je suis assez pour le développement de service autour du partage de voiture (je suis utilisateur Mobility). Je pourrais être un utilisateur ponctuel d’un service de co-voiturage bien que je ne l’ai encore jamais fait, pour deux raisons en tout cas:

  • Le co-voiturage ne se planifie pas toujours… co-voiturer tous les jours génère des contraintes qui mènent à l’échec sur la longueur.
  • Il ne s’agit pas simplement d’aller d’un point A à un point B, tant qu’à faire, autant le faire avec quelqu’un avec qui je partage quelques affinités…

Une pincée de “réseau social” avec une poignée de “dynamisme”… il y a de la place pour une application mobile! Lors d’un événement (festival, concert, soirée,…) je veux pouvoir sortir mon mobile de ma poche et consulter la liste des personnes qui rentrent dans la même direction que moi…

Bleublog and 24heures moved

Both 24Heures/TdG and Bleublog blogs platform have moved from Kaywa to BlogSpirit over the last 2 weeks. I had been personally involved in the projects while working @Kaywa and I got a lot of feelings when I found this out. I will not share those here, but one, actually more a thought than a feeling, “what a mess is should have been to migrate everything from one platform to the other” :-) and as far as I  know they seem to have done it quite well. Impressed. I have not yet really used the new platform so I can not comment on that, though regarding BleuBlog I like better the previous design. Another comment, there is no more mobile version…

No update for my N95

Swisscom sucksI have been waiting for quite some time to upgrade the firmware of my N95. I am running version 11.0.026, and the lastest version is 21.0.016 something… There are many improvements, amongst them using A-GPS would allow me to get the GPS signal in 5 seconds instead the 15 minutes currently,… but the Software Updater tells me I can not, one reason being that my operator does not have the latest approved firmware.
I had a call a few weeks ago with Swisscom consummer service and they told me that they do not provide the new firmware because they were not happy with it and they were still testing it (while the rest of the world can get it). Sucks!
