TF1 does not respect Creative Commons

September 11, 2001: What We Saw. It is a video that a couple living in New-York put online on revver.com about a year ago (ie. for the 5 years anniversary) under CC.

1,665,463 views since 09-11-2006 and this video was in the news on TF1 recently (20th of september) and was presented as newly published, less than 8 days, on the web and did not respect at all the Creative Commons licence which was one of the original reason why this couple had choosen revver.com to publish the video (and not youtube or any other one).

This kind of story piss me off badly. Just a bench of looser and the worse is that there is not much one can do about it.

Hiding user-agent, Vodafone sucks!

VodafoneGo Luca fight it!! Vodafone is hiding the user-agent to third-party content provider by hijacking the HTTP traffic coming from devices on their network to change the user-agent from the actual device (Nokia6288/2.0 (05.92) Profile/MIDP-2.0 Configuration/CLDC-1.1) to some generic web browser (Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; Linux i686; en-US; rv:1.8.0.7) Gecko/20060909 Firefox/1.5.0.7 MG (Novarra-Vision/6.1)).

They say it is for a better user experience, the truth is that it becomes impossible to know what kind of mobile is visiting the webpage, impossible to get its capabilities, it gets impossible for third-party content provider to work.

Swiss Web 2.0 stamm

swissw2.jpgOr should I say SwissW2 stamm ? I attended early this week to the Swiss Web stamm in Geneva. Hosted by Procab, there were two presentations but first thing first, the new logo was presented by Raphael.

The first presentation was from Pierre Chappaz. He presented some Wikio‘s feature including the new version coming soon (in a month or so ??). You can check it out in a previous post while I was testing Shozu again.

The second one was from Nathalie who launched Bloobble.com, a site dedicated to host online presentations. I have to admit that I do not believe much in that service mainly because of the business model but of course I wish her all success.

Next stamm will be hosted @Cisco in Rolle, the first presentation is about Second Life, and the slot for the second one remains free.

About Google AdSense for Mobile

mobile_ad.PNGGoogle has launched AdSense for mobile. It was expected and awaited for a long time from the mobile addict (except maybe for the other players like AdMob).

Russell Beattie is complaining (AdSense for Mobile: Starting slow and AdSense for Mobile: Day 2 still sucks) about the performance of AdSense for mobile, saying that the conversion rate and the total gain are much lower than with AdMob.

Having a few mobile website myself, and being an AdMob user I wanted to try as well. I checked my Google account to find out that AdSense for mobile is not available yet in Switzerland: We do not currently offer AdSense for Mobile in Switzerland.

Too bad, actually I wanted to check how does mobile AdSense is technically inserted into a page. Somehow I assume it is done with JavaScript as it is done on the web and that would explain why the revenue is so low with AdSense, because JavaScript is not yet widely supported on handheld device and the ad might simply not be displayed on some devices.

Bye bye Technorati

I have never been a big fan of Technorati. Monitoring content of millions of blogs is not an easy task for sure and they are facing big competition, but for me they really benefited from a lot of buzz and not that much deserved.

Now… they might be releasing new feature like Technorati Topic they still face availability problem (they always had), spam issue, and the CEO and founder, David Sifry, has step down a few weeks ago (together with a few other).

Unfortunately imho there is only one outcome possible: end of business

ShoZu again

Back from the Swiss Web 2.0 stamm in Geneva. While travelling in the train (that had some delay again) I tested again ShoZu with my new N95 (after testing it for a while I bought this device). While the version I had before was tied to Flickr this one allow to publish on almost anything (including a WordPress blog), see my previous post. It does also handle pod- and videocast. Pretty amazing and I am still on the discovery mode!

I will write about the Swissweb stamm later… now it is time to sleep ;-)

Bien bien bien

Bienbienbien
Un design super grande classe (je reconnais bien là la marque de fabrique de ba), un peu d’ajax bien placé, un contenu original et bien leché (avec quelques dinosaures du web),… ça sent bon tout ça!
