Wired: Futurists Pick Top Tech Trends
Taking a long-term view isn’t easy nowadays…
Pick no 2:
Mobile socialization: Already our cell phones and PDAs work well at both contributing to our social lives (i.e., getting in touch with friends) and spoiling them (i.e., meeting friends but ignoring them to answer cell-phone calls).
But according to futurists, we’ve only scratched the surface of figuring out how our portable communications devices can be of service.
What’s in store? How about mapping programs that show us whether anyone we’d like to see is nearby. Or a mobile reference modeled on Wikipedia that can tell us if the restaurant on the corner is any good. Perhaps a few voice-recognition applications that actually work.
While we’re at it, why not throw in programs to protect our privacy by limiting who has access to information about where we are?
+1 for Charlie. This is just a wish of course….
I would add Russell Beattie (Yahoo!) and Charlie himself ;-)
I’ll go anyway at Les blogs 2.0 but a mobile panel would have been nice. On the other hand this mobile panel could be gathered somewhere else… at another time… beginning next year ?
I am thinking…

And they even have a nice mobile version now…

Pong from Blinkenlights: You could use a mobile phone to play the arcade classic Pong right on the house. One started by dialing a number. A bit later one heard a voice explaning what to do. The house stopped its current program and switched over to the Pong playground: two paddles and a ball.
One used the 5 on your phone to move your paddle up, and number 8 to move it down. One were usually controlling the left paddle and playing against the computer on the right. If a second person called the system as well, it got into control of the other paddle so both could play against each other. Once everyone hung up, Blinkenlights switched back to its current playlist.
What do you think about that one Yaz ?
Being a nomad is one thing. Being a geek and a nomad it is something else… you are always looking for power to feed your little toys.
Definitely needed, well still need sun then… :-)

Swiss High-Tech & Innovation
Swiss – US sci&tech
European Biotech Network
