Yahoo!Go

Yahoo!Go
Yahoo! announced yesterday at CES the launch of Yahoo!Go. Looks like an awesome application… but even though my phone is supported I could not install it because of some memory issue on my Nokia 6630, again. Grrrr. Very frustrating… I hate that.
Anyway no carrier are supported in Switzerland so I am not even sure I could have tested it once installed.

Good point for Yahoo on the requirement page they ask about a data plan:

Yahoo! does not charge you to use Yahoo! Go. However, Yahoo! Go uses a mobile Internet connection to download email, news, ringtones and other services that you use. You will be charged by your network provider for these data traffic costs.
You should consider subscribing to a data plan from your network provider in order to keep these costs to a minimum. Please contact your provider for further details.

PSP design flaws

Andrea points to a few PSP flaws I have run into myself:

  • Analog button that is not well located;
  • Load time that can be too long sometimes;
  • Power key under the right hand that can turn off the PSP while playing;
  • Power led under the right hand so user do not see it blinking when running out of battery;

I’d like to add to this list the poor RSS support. New firmware supports RSS with enclosures but you have to be online to use it which makes it actually totally useless.

Besides that… this tool is awesome!

Mobile Center

A place where you can go and test your application with say at least fifty mobile devices out of the thousands that exists out there… I’d love to have that somewhere in Switzerland (does not exist to my knowledge) but that’s what they will have in South of France early 2006.

hAtom

While trying to finish to define some KAYWA standard microformats I ran into hAtom. Not a bad idea to take existing xml structure to add semantics to xhtml. It just sort of deprecates everything I have done so far…

Ah well…

Then there will be the Structured Blogging initiative to handle appropriately…
