QR Code ? Datamatrix ? What about Mobile Tag ?

Wether it is a QR Code or a Datamatrix does not really matter for the end user.

Technically they both have their own specifications and their own pro/con and which one to use can be context-dependant… Anyway KAYWA Reader can read both.

What is important now is to get to the point where the user should not have to worry about what kind of code it is ? and of course that starts with finding a good generic name to use when we talk about those codes.

Mobile Tag seems to be a good candidate… what would be the alternatives ? Mobile Code ? mTag ? mCode ?

KAYWA Reader ? You can download it there. You can have some news about it on the corporate blog and there is even a feed for your aggregator.

leweb3 on live.vpod.tv

live.vpod.tv, no need to go there… :-) well of course the networking part, which is not the less interesting part, is missing!

I was there the first 2 editions (called “les blogs” back at this time) and it would have been interesting to see how it has evolved, to see how this conference looks now with over 1000 participants…

SoonR and Swisscom release Media Bridge

Access your PC from your mobile… swisscom.soonr.com

There is even a Media Bridge Uploader that lets you send directly to your home computer pictures you take from your mobile phone. Pictures are sent “Over the Air” and the good news is that there is NO data transfer fee… as long as it is in beta!!!

I tried to install the uploader tool on my Nokia 6630 but it did not work… too bad!

How to start quickly the KAYWA reader

Following this thread of discussion I though I would share one tip to start quickly the KAYWA Reader.

On Series60 phones you can assign an application to almost every meta-key on the keyboard… Tools -> Settings -> Phone -> Standy mode

I just need to press on the key up on my phone to launch the KAYWA Reader… easy step to the mobile world ;-)

vpod.tv

Launch a few weeks ago in beta (like any service now) vpod.tv is a video service YouTube-like…
Its RSS feed includes enclosures, actually more than one and I am not sure how much this is “standard” (truth is that it is not standard), just too bad the 3gp file is not included in those enclosures it would be just perfect for feed2mobile

Microsoft Mobile User-Agent

A very interesting post from Andrea about MS Mobile User-Agent, it looks like once again MS goes its own path and that just sucks (once again).
Looks they also introduced some funky meta tag.

Read also Detecting Internet Explorer Mobile’s User-Agent on the server on IEMobile Team Weblog (probably a blog to add to your aggregator if you like to follow what is going on in the mobile world)

One post later Andrea found the Orange Partner site which seems to be interesting for mobile developers…
