Mowser
- A transcoder (to let users visit non mobile-friendly website);
- A directory of mobile-friendly websites;
- and a “keyword” feature that let you access quickly some websites (kinda a “shortcut”)
Cool stuff he ?
Few more stuff cool stuff from this post:
- Support for handheld CSS;
- Advertise your AdMob code in the header and it will be imported in Mowser so that YOU get the money for your content
Two questions now…
- where is the mobile version of Mowser ??? Wouldn’t a directory of mobile-friendly websites make sense…. on a mobile ? (I tried to access mowser.com on my Nokia 6630 but it crashes my phone - sign that there is no mobile version)
- What about mobile link discovery ?
Edit: ok from Russell’s comment below there is a mobile version, I am just having problem with my phone (we will sort it out). Here it is: mowser.com, (qrcode), (datamatrix)
Mowser has a blog to catch up with new features and Russell’s thoughts.

Hey Jerome,
Sorry to hear I crashed your phone with mowser - it should have looked fine on your phone (of course!). I’ll try to figure out what happened, but any more detail you can send me would be great.
As for your other questions: First, yes there is a directory of mobile sites at mowser.com/links which contains a tagged list of 500+ sites that are formatted for mobile phones. And mowser.com does look for the alt header for mobile sites and puts a link on the page pointing the user to that mobile version.
Thanks for checking out mowser, I hope to fix the problems you may have had soon!
oh thanks for stopping by :-)
My experience is that my phone browser crashing is because of a too big page or not valid…
I tried again with the links page to get unfortunately the same result.
I tried then with Opera Mobile and I get a 403 error
Great find, Jérôme!
On a side-note, Mowser-mobile works fine on my Nokia 6680, which should have the same browser/firmware as yours. Not enough free ram, maybe?
